Summer is all about travel, new experiences, and being social. That doesn’t have to end in the autumn.

Whether you call it autumn or fall, they’re the months right after summer that tease the upcoming winter.

The leaves turn a fiery orange, the air is cooler, and daylight hours are much shorter.

Autumn may not have the same appeal in terms of weather, but there are many things to do from September to November.

We’ll look at some of the events that run in the autumn months.

But if you do want to escape and move somewhere where the weather is warm all year, we may have a solution for that as well.

Autumn Events you Can’t Miss

As we said, the party must go on. There are some fabulous festivals you can experience in the autumn months.

DIWALI

Like the autumn season, Diwali, the Festival of Lights is a celebration loaded with colour.

It’s the most important holiday in India.

Diwali is celebrated over five days. On the second day, residents in India will lay out clay lamps outside their homes to symbolise the inner light that protects them from spiritual darkness.

On the third day, the main celebration, families gather for prayer to the Goddess Lakshmi. Following that is a feast and fireworks that light up the sky.

Diwali brings in the Hindu new year in style.

DIA DE LOS MUERTOS

You wouldn’t be blamed for thinking Dia de los Muertos was a Mexican version of Halloween.

A Google search of this festival and you’ll see the many skull-painted faces at this event.

Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a demonstration of love and respect for loved ones who have passed.

All across Mexico, event-goers sing and dance and make offerings to lost family members.

It’s a day of joy rather than sorrow.

LOY KRATHONG

Loy Krathong is one of the most beautiful autumn, and perhaps yearly festivals celebrated in Thailand and Laos.

It falls on the night of the 12th lunar moon, usually in November.

What Loy Krathong celebrates varies. Some pay tribute to the Goddess of Water, and Thai Buddhists give respect to Buddha and welcome in fortune for the new year.

However you choose to celebrate, you can participate in having your raft float across the water, decorated with candles, flowers and incense.

Or, set free your fire lantern, it’ll join hundreds of others drifting across the night.

It’s a spectacular sight.

One thing all these festivals have in common is they are crowded. Lots of people attend these events, so having a secure data connection can be tough.

Not with an eSIM.

An eSIM generally has a better connection than a SIM, so you can count on eSIM data when in a crowded area.

FIFA World Cup

The most famous football tournament is right around the corner. The world’s best players will be there, it’s what they’ve dreamed of their whole lives. Will you be watching?

You probably will. Five billion people are expected to have their eyes on the FIFA 2022 World Cup.

The tournament starts on November 20th and runs until December 18th.

The first game is Ecuador v the hosts, Qatar, who will hope they can start the tournament off on the right foot.

Some early favourites are Brazil, with Neymar leading their talented side. They are 4/1 favourites to win the World Cup with Bet365.

After Brazil, France are at 6/1 and England at 7/1.

Favourites don’t always win though. There are dark horses fans should keep an eye on too.

Portugal have never won the World Cup, and they’ll be looking to change that. They’re loaded with great players and maybe even the best ever, Cristiano Ronaldo. Bet365 has them at 12/1 odds of winning the tournament.

Other teams flying under the radar are the Netherlands, also at 12/1, and Denmark at 28/1.

Football fans will no doubt be excited for this global event, but non-football fans should be just as excited to cheer on their nations.

History will be made in just a few weeks.

Digital Nomad Visa

If you’re really not a fan of autumn, you’re a traveller at heart, and ready to make a move, we’ve got some great options for you.

Spain plans to introduce a digital nomad visa so talented remote workers can settle in the country.

It’s called the Startup Act, passed by the Spanish Parliament, and rumours are that it may come into effect in January next year.

You’ll need to be from outside of the European Economic Area to apply for this visa. You’ll also have to prove that you have been working remotely for at least a year and have a contract of employment. Or, if you’re freelancing, show that you’ve been regularly working for a foreign company.

Warm weather, delicious food and a low cost of living, who wouldn’t want to relocate to Spain?

Last year, the Indonesian government said that it would grant digital nomads five-year visas without taxation.

They expect around 3 million digital nomads to move in with the new visa.

The details are still being finalised but what is certain is you’ll need a valid passport before applying, and you’ll need to show that you’re working for a company outside Indonesia.

Indonesia is a dream destination, a country with so much to offer.

Move to “The Land of a Thousand Islands” for its rich culture, relaxed lifestyle and clear blue waters.

Another nation with a new digital nomad visa is Portugal.

Thousands of immigrants move to Portugal every year, the country is clearly a popular place to live.

To qualify for the visa, you must earn at least €2800 per month. You’ll need to come from a country outside of the EU or EEA, and you’ll need to show that you’re self-employed or work for a company outside of Portugal.

Similar to Spain, Portugal has a low cost of living and a beautiful coastline. Digital nomads will also enjoy the 17th fastest WIFI in the world.

Relocate to Portugal and live the cosy life.

Hopefully, this article has inspired some new plans.

If so, your autumn might be just as fun as your summer.
